Hewlett-Packard unveiled two ultra-thin, multitouch-enabled convertible laptop-tablet with Intel Core i5 and i7 processors. HP Elitebook 2540p is said to be the lightest notebook that weighs only 3.3 lbs. It is packed with standard-power Core i5 or Core i7 processor. It has a 12.1-inch 1366 x 768 LED-backlit display, USB 2.0, VGA, optional 2-megapixel webcam, DisplayPort, 1394a, and gigabit Ethernet ports with an option for an integrated EV-DO/HSPA 3G modem. Battery life for the 2540p is rated by HP at up to 10 hours with a nine-cell battery and 8 hours with a 6-cell battery. The HP Elitebook 2540p has a selling price starts at $1,099.

The HP Elitebook 2740p has specifications similar to the 2540p. It only weighs 3.8 lbs. and includes a 12.1-inch diagonal LED display or optional outdoor-view display with less reflection, a higher contrast for easier viewing in natural light, a reinforced glass screen, and a touch interface that will also work with an included pen. The 2740p tablet sells at $1599.
