Google Squared And Wolfram Alpha, New Search Tools
Google Searchology event revealed a new search tool called “Google Squared” which will be available this month at Google Labs or (www.google.com/squared). According to TechCrunch, “Google Squared extracts data from Web pages and presents them in search results as squares in an online spreadsheet.” For example, if you search for a “small fish,” Google will list the results with types of small fishes, along with description, size, weight, origin, etc. in columns and rows. While Wolfram Alpha is based on its own database, while Google Squared gathers data from the entire Web. It is one simple input field that gives access to a huge system, with trillions of pieces of curated data and millions of lines of algorithms. The example page image below shows that the initial release of Wolfram|Alpha will allow you to probe knowledge derived from many different domains.
